I have decided to add a little something different to my site. Every now and then, I may try to convey an opinion or illustrate a point using haiku. One of my students got me interested in this, and I think it's kind of neat. So, for the liberals out there who want to see some culture, here it is:
Firey eyes slice through [Bill] with deep loathing and mistrust,
Nervous nails tap while campaign staff are indicted,
Hillary.
Hot bellows of sewer stench,
Rustling of worthless papers caught on camera,
Decatur City Council Meeting.
More to come as inspiration hits. Perhaps I will have a post soon with actual content as well.
Until next time...

The format isn't set in stone, from what I've been told. Supposedly, it was supposed to be 17 syllables total, and convey Japanese culture.
But hey, were in America. Poetic license allows whatever, right?
Thats funny. I hope you don' t have to post comments in the form of a haiku. Question: Why the name
"lincolnrepublican"? I myself am kind of a lincoln junkie myself.

The name Lincoln Republican is to differentiate from the "Carnegie" Republican, ie. economically motivated republicans. I tend to identify more with the political ideals of a humble, well-grounded, God-fearing man whose Whig party became the Republican party later on. I, too, am a lincoln junkie; can't wait to go to Springfield to checkout the library/museum, etc.
Keep 'em coming!
Maybe we could publish a little poetry book when we're done. (And make it required reading for all future DCC candidates.)
Matt, you're the computer genius, how do we put up a permanent component for a blog?
I can't waite to see the Lincoln Library either. Most importantly I cant waite to take my kids
Here's one:
Orchestrated moves and political maneuvers,
Daydreaming of holding a state office,
Shad Edwards
