Democrats FOR Privatization?

This just in...

For all those who think "privatizing" is the evil GWB's means by which to establish hell on earth, check this out:

DEMOCRATS in West Virginia have proposed selling off $5.5 BILLION worth of bonds, then INVESTING THE MONEY IN THE STOCK MARKET to bail out the West Virginia Teacher's Retirement Fund. Yes, you heard it right: DEMOCRATS ARE PUSHING FOR PRIVATIZING RETIREMENT for a worn-out SYSTEM IN [state] GOVERNMENT!

My God, the world will now end.

West Virginia's is out there east somewhat close to Massachusetts. Maybe they should ask Senator Kennedy to help them? Or maybe Sentator Clinton from New York?

Surely Senator Clinton knows how to raise money in a hurry.

Hardy har har...

Touche

To be really honest, I hope this venture in WV succeeds and succeeds well. No. 1, according to the story, there are a lot of teachers who are counting on this retirement fund. Second, it would be wonderful to see privatization work on a smaller scale so that opponents can see the way it could work on the larger scale.

We shall see...

Rare coins? Gimme a break!

No, the touche still goes as above, but I would say that my Mom could think of better things to invest in than rare coins.

Conservative stocks, bonds, but not rare coins. Read the article...this is why when voluntary privatization happens, it needs to be done RIGHT, where the citizen gets to choose where they want their money invested.

Touche with the accent over the e. (I don't got no French keyboard, so I can't do that there French type stuff.)

French, past tense of touchez, or "to touch"

Usually, it is a term used in fencing, as in, "you touched me."

I was simply giving the reader the credit of saying something that I wished I had said.

And my mother thanks you for your politeness and civility. XXX OOO

Didn't Pres. Clinton bring up privatizaton of Social Security long before GWB?

As a matter of fact, he did.

I had forgotten about that, to be perfectly honest. (I guess I've tried to forget a lot about Clinton.)
