I tried it. It was relatively painless.
I have posted my first entry on www.blogdecatur.com. My username there is "Decatur Conservative" (note the space in between...there may be another person without the space. If so, I'll ask Matthew to change it to Lincoln Republican instead, we'll see.)
I did post a new haiku there, which I will share with y'all, too.
Have a great day!
[obligatory haiku]:
Panicked stomachs and sweaty palms,
Reluctantly throwing down a losing vote,
Liberal democrats.
Until next time...

BTW--
'Let me make one thing perfectly clear...'
I am NOT anti-democrat here. I am, however, anti-liberal, and there is a difference. Too often, when people hear the DNC get criticized, they think it is a critique against ALL democrats, and that just isn't so. Unfortunately, the liberals have control over the DNC at this time, so there is a lot coming the DNC's way.
This is why I've been saying: Conservative democrats, UNITE! Take back your party before Teddy, Nancy, Kerry, and the rest trash it even more than they already have. [play Battle Hymm in the background] Where are the Harry S. Trumans at this time? Someone give Joe Lieberman a handshake, and tell him to keep keepin' on. Where are the democrats who were the people's party in the 30's, 40's and 50's? (Well, Linc, they're dead.) But their ideals can live on! Take back the democratic party that had backbone. Take back the democratic party that Zell Miller was proud to be a part of! I said it once and I'll say it again, Conservative Democrats UNITE!
What does anti-liberal mean? I think I am probably called liberal by your standards, but I am pretty conservative by textbook definition. For example, I am a married stay-at-home mom, married to my high school sweetheart. We go to church. My top values are my family and my community. I have family in the military. My hobbies are cooking, sewing, and gardening. Do I sound like a raging liberal?
I went to a peace rally in Washington, D.C. with my husband last year. Over 250,000 people were in attendence. I was shocked by the demographic. There were more veterans, families, and senior citizens there than I would have ever imagined. The "blue-haired" crowd was the over-70 little old lady type, NOT the punk rocker type. Yet the Washington Post barely acknowledged the turn-out and took a picture of a stereotypical hippie for their story. I barely even saw any of the tie-dye crowd there, but the point was, the newspaper did not show the true face of the crowd, because I feel they were trying to make the readership think that only tree-huggers have reason to protest a war.
Here's what I think. Everyone has a right to his-or-her opinion. In fact, I like reading your blog to understand the politically conservative reasoning, because I don't feel you have any reason to distort the truth as you see it. But one thing that I don't understand is how conservatives think that there is this huge liberal media. Aside from Al Franken's AM radio network, and, by some standards, public radio (and of course indie newspapers), I think most networks have gotten pretty conservative in the past 8 or so years. It is really ahrd to know whether a media outlet has put any sort of spin on a story until you are at an event in real life and then you read about it in the paper or see it on tv, and you are suddenly struck off guard and say, "Hey, that's not right! That's not how it happened!" I have had that happen to me a lot, and I can tell you, the mainstream media has ALWAYS put a conservative twist on things. Also, I have a hard time believing the the Fox news network is neutral, because it is owned my GWB's cousin, and also, when they have been exposed for telling lies, their OFFICIAL reply was, "We aren't obligated to tell the story in its entirety."
Basically, I am not sure what conservative is supposed to mean these days. When the GOP says they are running on a platform of family, freedom, and God, this doesn't really say anything about their policies. I mean, what message does that send? If Republicans are pro-family, pro-freedom, and pro-God, what does that mean that Democrats support? It's pretty hard for us to run on a platform of hating babies, loving slavery, and worshipping the devil (lol). My point is, I think it is wrong for ANY political group to say it is doing God's will, because unless God Himself has come to you and spoken a la Joan of Arc, I think it is pretty blasphemous to claim to know God's will and say that you are it. And I am pro-family, pro-freedom, and pro-God, but I'm not a Republican.
I don't see why conservatives use the word "liberal" like it's profane. What's bad about being liberal? I'm liberal because I support social programs for all sectors of society, including the poor and downtrodden, and I support people's rights to exist even if I don't agree with their lifestyle choices. Did Jesus cast away the lepers? I think if anyone can claim that Christian principles guide them, it's those who support policies of social programs for children, the poor, and the elderly. I'm also a liberal because I believe that war is wrong and that peace is the answer, and I believe that the war was primarily an opportunity to take advantage of the unprecedented opportunity for Halliburton to gain access to more oil. Call me a skeptic, but the WOMD were not there, and I think the military has been misused here. I feel very badly for the military personnel. I guess I am liberal for lots of reasons. To me, liberalism is love. Jesus was a pretty radical guy in his time, and he had a lot of crazy ideas about peace, acceptance, love, tolerance, and helping the less fortunate. I guess that's why I'm a liberal. I'm not against you. What is the idea that you have of liberals that you hate so much? If you think we're all dope-smoking sex fiends with radical Satanic agendas, I think you've been seeing the wrong image in all the "liberal media."
I get Jesus being all what you said, but what about the tolerance issue? How was he tolerant?
I hope you don't mean today's version of tolerance, because Jesus didn't take to kindly to sin and people turning God's house into a den of thieves.
