Out-of-touch Democrats Still Don't Get It
...bottom photo courtesy of www.rushlimbaugh.com...
I didn't get a chance to see any of the hearings today with Justice Alito, but, boy, did I hear the excerpts! Is it me or is Ted Kennedy going senile? Does he really think people believe him when he makes stuff up like that? As a son a lifelong democrat, and a student of history, I can say without the shadow of a doubt that this Democratic Party is NOT the one that managed WWII, or produced leaders like John Kennedy or Harry Truman.
Alito's statements remind me a lot of what John Roberts said during his interviews. In articles from the Associated Press and FoxNews, Justice Alito was quoted as saying, "A judge can't have any agenda, a judge can't have any preferred outcome in any particular case, and a judge certainly doesn't have a client ... the judge's sole obligation is to the rule of law."
I don't know about y'all, but aren't these hearings supposed to be about if he's qualified for the position, NOT what his personal beliefs might be or how he might rule on a particular case in the future? If this is the truth, and the hearings are supposed to verify the judges ability to do his job, why in the world would Ted Kennedy say this:
"In an era when the White House is abusing power, is excusing and authorizing torture and is spying on American citizens, I find Judge Alito's support for an all-powerful executive branch to be genuinely troubling."
Uh, Ted, you might want to see your doctor, pal. We're not talking about GWB, nor are we arguing about political opinions on various topics in the news, we're talking about a judge and his ability to do his job.
I guess with Ted, that's all water under the bridge...
I can't wait to see if they'll filibuster Alito. If Democrats wish to seal their collective defeat in November in various congressional races, pull another Daschle, and it will get done.
Did Truman ever have any sons or grandsons interested politics?

Less corruptible? Like Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, or Chuck Schumer? All of which took money from Abramoff.
The only notably respectable Democrat is Leiberman, but no one wants to listen to him, because he doesn't have any relationships with People For the "American" Way, Moveon.org, George Soros or Al Franken.
The Democrats will lose big in November...I predict a net loss of three, maybe four seats in the house, and maybe 1 to 2 in the Senate.
I'm not sure if all the people on anonymous' list were Abramoff's friends, but quite a few were.
ANYWAY..
The reason that I as well as many other conservatives don't like Teddy so much is the way he handles himself. This man, the one who left the scene of an accident and let a woman die, is accusing others of ethics problems? And his language in his question to Alito is similar to the old joke, "Do you still beat your wife?" This may be politics, but it's not reflective of the truth.
Mr. Jackson--
The slanderous attacks performed by Senator Kennedy et al over the past few days, all of which have been proven false, have done nothing but convince those watching of just what the playbook of these Democrats has become. Lie, cheat, indict, slander, do whatever it takes to remove an opponent from power. I agree with you, LR, that the Democrats running for office in November will have a difficult road to hoe.
Yeah, that *$#&Q! right-wing conspiracy! They rig voting machines, manufacture hurricanes, blow up levees, and even faked Howard Dean's "Heeaaahhh!" to make him look bad.
To quote Mike Myers (as Dr. Evil):
"......Right...."
Don't forget the fact that George Bush made Bill Burkett vote for him with some kind of mind control, and the Bush kept an alien in the National Guard.
Oh, and he shot JFK, too.
